This page says what we store, what the advertising pixels on the site receive, where gift links go, and how to delete a list. It is written to be read, not skimmed; it is short.
What we store
- Your answers and the briefs you paste. The four survey answers (price range, things to include, things to exclude, books yes or no), the optional occasion, sizes and first name, and the whole gift-brief block your assistant printed, including its evidence lines. The evidence lines are used to pick products and are kept with your list as your own record; they are never shown to the people you share the list with, who see only each gift's idea, its kind and one public sentence.
- Your list. The gifts chosen, the Amazon products they link to, which ideas were skipped or held, and the changes you make (removals, swaps). The list is public to anyone who has its link. The owner link holds a secret key; we store a hash of that key, not the key.
- Events. Page views, list views, shares, gift-link clicks, make-your-own clicks and the steps of making a list, each with the list it belongs to and the page path. When you arrive from an advert we keep the campaign parameters and the ad platform's click id (Meta's
fbclid, TikTok'sttclid, Google'sgclid) with the list you then make, so a later purchase through a gift link can be attributed to the advert. Nothing we store is joined to Amazon's reports. - Two identifiers in your browser. A random id in your browser's storage links the lists you make from one browser (it is how we keep to one hosted list per person), and a session flag stops repeat views of a list being counted twice. Neither carries your name.
- Protection data. A hash of your connection's address for rate limiting, and the text of any report sent through "Report this list".
We do not store your assistant's memory extract and do not want it; paste only the brief block. We never see what your assistant knows beyond the briefs it prints. We do not ask for your email or create accounts today.
Advertising pixels
Every page on this site, list pages included, loads the Meta pixel and the OpenAI Ads pixel. They let us see which adverts lead to lists being made and stop showing adverts to people who already made one. Each pixel receives what a pixel normally receives: the address of the page you are on (a list address contains a random id, never the owner key), the page title, the referring page, your browser and device details, its own cookies or identifiers, and the events named above (page view, list started, list created, make-your-own click, gift-link click) with a random event id and small details such as the gift's position. We do not send them your name, your survey answers, your briefs or the gifts' text. Meta's and OpenAI's own policies govern what they do with it; you can limit this with your browser's tracking settings or an ad blocker, and the site still works.
Gift links and Amazon
Every gift links to a specific product on Amazon, or to an Amazon search when no single product matched. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases: our links carry an Amazon tracking tag, and Amazon may pay us a commission on what people buy after following one. Our Associates application is pending; no commission accrues until it is approved. Amazon tells us nothing about who bought what, and we never tie Amazon's reports to a person or a list.
How long we keep things, and how to delete a list
A list and everything stored with it stay until deleted. To delete a list, open "Report this list" at the foot of the list page and ask for it to be deleted, or email hello@promptandpresent.com with the list's link; we delete it by hand and reply if you give us an address. Events already recorded are kept as counts. Self-service deletion is not built yet; this page will change when it is.
Who else sees the data
The site runs on Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage). Product selection sends each gift brief, without your name, to Anthropic's Claude with web search limited to amazon.com. The pixels above send data to Meta and OpenAI. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes. Keep using the site after a change and the new version applies.
